The Sierra Arts Foundation and the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) are collaborating to present "Brush & Brew," a live art competition scheduled for May 10 at Parlay 6 in Reno. This event aims to unite local artists, craft brewers, and enthusiasts of art and craft beverages.
Attendees will have the chance to collect a stamp from a participating brewer for their Nevada Craft Beverage Passport and vote for the artist of their choosing. The winning artist will receive a portion of the event's proceeds. Tickets, priced at $25, are available for purchase online.
The event will spotlight 12 artists who will compete in three rapid rounds, each creating artwork in just 20 minutes based on an undisclosed theme. Audience votes will decide the top three artists of each round, culminating in a final showdown among six finalists for potential opportunities to feature their work at Parlay 6.
This year's Nevada Craft Beverage Passport is a joint venture by the NDA and Made In Nevada, guiding participants to explore craft beverage spots across the state. "Nevada’s craft beverage makers are artists in their own right–combining and crafting unique flavors reflective of the Silver State," said NDA Director J.J. Goicoechea. He added that "Brush & Brew is a great opportunity to support your local artists and small craft beverage businesses."
Tracey Oliver, executive director at Sierra Arts Foundation, described "Brush & Brew" as "an exciting blend of Nevada’s vibrant arts and craft beer communities." Oliver emphasized the interactive nature of the event, where attendees play a crucial role in determining the outcome and promoting local art.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sierra Arts Foundation, offset costs for NDA passports and prizes, and provide to the winning artist. Tickets include entry to the event, one craft beer, and voting rights.
The event will take place at Parlay 6, located at 1041 S. Virginia Street in Reno.
