The Nevada Mining Association (NVMA) has launched its seventh annual Hope for Heat campaign, aiming to support Boys & Girls Clubs across the state. The initiative, which started on Memorial Day and will run through Labor Day, encourages residents to "hope for heat" as it ties donations to high temperatures.
Throughout the campaign period, NVMA will contribute $90 each day when temperatures in Reno and Elko reach 90 degrees. In Southern Nevada, a $100 donation will be made whenever Las Vegas experiences 100-degree weather. Additionally, Granite Construction will add $33 per region every time these temperature milestones are met, as part of their “100 Days of Giving” campaign celebrating their centennial.
Funds raised during this campaign will be distributed equally among the Boys & Girls Clubs of Truckee Meadows, Elko, Winnemucca, and Southern Nevada. These clubs provide essential programs that promote success, leadership, and healthy lifestyles for over 14,000 children they serve.
“Nevada is known for its hot, dry summers and we’re counting on our Silver State to deliver sizzling temperatures again this year,” stated NVMA President Tyre Gray. He emphasized that increased temperatures would directly benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs statewide and aid in setting up a successful future for the children involved.
Since its inception in 2016, the Hope for Heat program has contributed $73,160 to nonprofits throughout Nevada. More information about NVMA's initiatives can be found at www.nevadamining.org.
The Nevada Mining Association aims to unite and advocate for Nevada’s mining industry while emphasizing environmental stewardship and community health. They seek recognition of mining's contributions to the state's economy and envision a future where mining is seen as an essential industry.
