The Elko Mining Expo is set to return on June 9-10, bringing together miners from various regions in northeastern Nevada. The event provides an opportunity for attendees to network, explore the latest industry trends, and celebrate the mining achievements of the year. Here are five notable places to visit during your time in Elko.

One destination to consider is The Star, renowned as one of Nevada's leading Basque restaurants. It offers a traditional Basque dinner and its famous picon punches, though it's advised not to have more than two.

Another site worth visiting is the Western Folklife Center. It boasts one of the finest collections of American Western art in the country and hosts rotating exhibitions throughout the year. Additionally, it organizes the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering every January.

For diverse culinary options, Machi’s Saloon & Grill is recommended. Known for offering food from around the world and featuring an extensive wine selection, Machi’s aims to satisfy varied tastes.

Nature enthusiasts can explore Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains area. Located a short drive from Elko, it features over 100 miles of trails and fishing opportunities along with a scenic 12-mile drive.

Finally, networking opportunities abound at the expo itself. Attendees are encouraged to meet with representatives from the Nevada Mining Association (NVMA) at Booth 112. "Joining the NVMA is one of the best ways to gain access to the Silver State’s original STEM industry." The association will also host several member-only events; interested parties can contact their office at (775) 829-2121 for details on membership before attending.
