Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto toured Apex Industrial Park and discussed her efforts to attract new, industrial-scale companies to Las Vegas by making it easier to open new businesses there. The Senator toured new sites at Apex, which has over 7,000 acres of developable land and supports hundreds of jobs that were created in just the past year, including at the Air Liquide hydrogen plant, a new 885,000 square foot Smith’s distribution center opening this quarter, and a 1 million square foot Crocs distribution center set to open this fall. The Crocs center alone will create 650 jobs for Nevadans.
“Las Vegas is an ideal place to start a business, and I’ll continue working to support our entrepreneurs and working families as we work to grow our economy,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “From Air Liquide to Smith’s and Crocs, there are so many exciting companies opening their doors at Apex and creating good-paying jobs for Nevadans.”
“The interest at Apex from businesses across the country has never been greater. With the help of Senator Cortez Masto’s bill, as well as its companion bill in the House lead by Congressman Horsford and Congressman Amodei with support from the entire Nevada Delegation, our federal partners are protecting public interests while simultaneously supporting efficient new development at Apex,” said Lisa Cole, Vice President of Land Development Associates. “As a result, Apex landowners and stakeholders will be able to obtain critical infrastructure faster by streamlining BLM processes into one action rather than multiples over time. These efforts will solidify incoming interest at Apex without sacrificing any meaningful oversight or environmental compliance by federal land agencies. We appreciate Senator Cortez Masto’s thoughtful and hands-on interest in Apex and look forward to working with her as it continues to grow.”
Senator Cortez Masto is leading legislation to Apex’s complicated permitting process and deliver faster, more efficient permits for new businesses and existing businesses looking to expand their operations. She’s worked across the board to strengthen and diversify Nevada’s economy and create new jobs by passing legislation to upgrade American infrastructure, support Nevada’s manufacturing industry and American economic competitiveness, and invest in Nevada’s booming clean-energy economy.
