The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced upcoming lane reductions and shifts on State Route 227 (Lamoille Highway) at Boyd-Kennedy Road from March 15 to March 19, 2025. These temporary traffic changes will allow NDOT to analyze work zone set-up and traffic mobility in preparation for a new roundabout installation later this spring.

Traffic Impact & Schedule:

  • SR 227 reduced to one lane in each direction between Corral Lane and Martin Avenue from 7:00 AM, March 15, to 7:00 AM, March 19
  • Roadside shoulder closures
  • Speed limit reduced to 35 mph in the affected area
  • Moderate travel delays expected
  • Lane closures subject to weather conditions
The new two-lane roundabout will be larger than the existing one at Spring Creek and Licht Parkways, improving traffic flow and safety for the 11,000 daily drivers in the area.

Additional Project Improvements:

  • New pedestrian crosswalks linking to the multi-use path on the north side of the road
  • Acceleration and deceleration lanes at Lamoille Highway and Trescartes Avenue, as well as at Spring Creek High School
  • New LED lighting and advanced roadway signage for enhanced visibility
  • Decorative landscape artwork featuring metal cutouts of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep and mountain lions, along with native plants, decorative rock, and concrete elements
  • Permanent speed adjustments: Lamoille Highway approaching the roundabout will have a 45 mph posted limit, with a 25 mph advisory speed within the roundabout
Future Traffic Adjustments:

Drivers should anticipate similar lane shifts and reductions once construction officially begins this spring.
