Nevada War Room, affiliated with the Better Nevada Political Action Committee (PAC), said that Democratic lawmakers in the Nevada State Legislature have rejected transparency reforms and are effectively operating without public accountability. This announcement was made in a post on X on April 13.

According to The Nevada Independent, Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama introduced two constitutional amendments, AJR2 and AJR3, in 2025 to increase legislative transparency. These proposals aimed to subject the Nevada Legislature to the Open Meeting Law and public records requests and to require bill texts to be made public 72 hours before final passage. Neither amendment received a hearing.

The Associated Press reports that in 2023, Nevada Assemblywoman Michelle Gorelow decided not to seek re-election after voting to approve $250,000 in funding for a nonprofit organization where she later accepted employment. This incident raised concerns over ethical conduct and potential conflicts of interest. Gorelow's decision followed increased scrutiny over her role in the allocation.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada’s Legislature is exempt from public records laws and open meeting statutes that apply to other branches of government. This exemption has drawn criticism from government transparency advocates who argue it prevents meaningful public oversight. Critics say this carve-out allows lawmakers to operate with limited accountability.

Better Nevada PAC is a political action committee focused on issues such as government accountability and education reform. The PAC has been active in endorsing Republican candidates and launching political campaigns during the 2024–2025 election cycle.
