FOIA Request to Nevada State Board of Education Regarding Instructional Mandates for State K-12 Schools on December 10, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Silver State Times have submitted a request under the Nevada Open Records Act § 239 et seq. The request was sent to the Nevada State Board of Education and seeks access to a list of all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools. This includes all required courses and general instruction.
Our role as media professionals involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await the response from the Nevada State Board of Education and will continue our efforts in bringing transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
