There were 35,608 second grade students enrolled in Nevada schools in the 2023-24 school year, 4.3% more than the previous year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Silver State data showed that 10th grade had the largest classes with a total of 39,056 students enrolled, while pre-kindergarten had the least number of students that year with just 13,516 students.

Statewide, Clark County schools welcomed the most students during the 2023-24 school year.

Nevada has seen a significant decline of almost 3.5% in public school enrollment over the last five school years.

Still, the state had approximately one teacher for every 21 students, compared to the national average of roughly one teacher for every 15 students. Research has shown that a higher student-to-teacher ratio negatively impacts students' academic performance.
