As the nationwide issue of skimming and cloning Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) fraud continues to impact vulnerable Nevadans, the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is urging recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to take additional measures to protect their benefits.
DWSS has received approval from the federal government to replace benefits stolen through skimming, cloning, or other fraudulent methods until September 30, 2024. As this temporary approval period nears its end, DWSS reminds SNAP participants to mitigate the risk of fraud by locking their card using the EBT Edge app when not in use.
Nevadans with a SNAP EBT card should:
Customers who have been victimized by cybercriminals can report benefit theft through September 30, 2024, at any welfare office, by phone at (702) 486-1875 for Southern Nevada or (775) 448-5211 for Northern Nevada, via email at irreferral@dwss.nv.gov, or online. Claim forms must be completed within ten business days of reporting.
