Ely, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined Ely Mayor Pro Tem and City Councilwoman Dr. Jerri-Lynn Williams-Harper and City Engineer BJ Almberg in downtown Ely to discuss funding she’s secured for vital infrastructure improvements across the city.

Senator Cortez Masto has championed the Downtown Ely Infrastructure and Complete Streets Project and recently secured $30 million in federal funding for the project. Every year, Cortez Masto visits Ely to connect with residents and local leaders, and in response to their concerns she has successfully secured millions to help the city upgrade aging water infrastructure, make safety improvements at the municipal airport, and expand access to broadband and affordable housing for the Ely Shoshone Tribe. She’s also championed federal investments to help rural communities across Nevada access high-speed internet.

“I’ve been visiting Ely since I was a girl, and I’m proud to make sure this city has the funding to revitalize downtown, improve roads, and support families,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “For far too long, our rural communities have been overlooked when it comes to federal investments, and I’m fighting to make sure that residents in all corners of Nevada get the resources they need.”
