WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement to mark the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision, which overturned nearly 50 years of precedent settled by Roe v. Wade, decimating a woman’s right to choose in states across the country:

“Since Roe v. Wade was overturned last year, we have witnessed states ban or drastically restrict women’s access to abortion. Extreme Washington politicians have already introduced 20 bills that would restrict or entirely eliminate access to abortion nationwide. It is an attack on women’s fundamental rights. Abortion care is essential health care and when that option is no longer on the table, it has and will continue to lead to unnecessary suffering and death for some women.

“Abortion remains safe and legal in Nevada, but just this spring, extreme politicians came incredibly close to restricting medication abortion across the country. Extreme anti-choice, anti-women politicians didn’t stop at Roe, and they won’t rest until abortion is banned nationwide. We must not let that happen.

“On this solemn anniversary, we must remember that even here in Nevada, we are not truly safe from extreme attacks to reproductive rights, and we must come together to defend control of our own bodies at every opportunity.”
