Pima Medical Institute’s San Antonio Campus has officially launched its Associate Degree in Radiography. The first class is set to begin in November.
The Radiography program at the San Antonio campus provides an additional opportunity for students who want to serve their community and its members in a healthcare career. The program takes approximately 24 months to complete and with many employer partners ready to accept extern candidates, new graduates could be working in their chosen field in only two years. This program is a general radiography program; students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the ARRT National Credentialing board exam and will be able to apply for full licensure in any state.
The San Antonio campus is the newest Pima Medical campus, located in Northwest San Antonio. The medical trade school is located in the heart of the medical center district with well-known top medical facilities within reach.
“We are looking forward to the new Radiography program at Pima Medical’s San Antonio campus,” said Donna L. Mendelson BA, RT (R), Area Manager of the Southwest Region for TridentCare. “As an employer partner, TridentCare continues to experience firsthand the high quality and extremely dedicated graduates produced by Pima Medical and its exceptional programs. Their contribution to the ever-growing medical community will have a huge impact on patient care locally and throughout the country.”
The Radiography program is the second associate degree program offered so far at the campus. In the program, students learn how to perform medical diagnostic imaging examinations. Courses focus on anatomy, equipment protocols, radiation safety and other important areas of focus so students are equipped with the skills needed to be successful in the field, immediately. Real-world labs use the same equipment graduates will be working with in hospitals or clinics.
“This program is an important addition for us here in San Antonio,” said Keever Jankovich, campus director. “The need for qualified medical professionals continues to increase, and a Radiography Associate Degree from Pima Medical can open many doors for graduates. Whether they want to specialize in a certain skill, or continue their education later on, this program provides an exceptional base of knowledge to get them started.”
The San Antonio campus currently offers Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy Technician certificate programs. Also offered are Veterinary Technician and now, Radiography Associate Degree programs.
