A University of Nevada, Reno women’s soccer player has received national recognition for her play.

Senior midfielder Luz Arreaga with the Wolfpack women's soccer team has been honored by TopDrawerSoccer, according to a Sept. 7 news release.

Arreaga scored two goals and recorded an assist during a 3-0 home opening victory over Sacramento State earlier this month.

"It was an incredible feeling to be able to get those two goals and the assist in a huge win against Sacramento State," Arreaga said in the release. "I think this game gave the team the boost we needed, and we feel good and ready going into this weekend's games."

Arreaga, a native of Gilroy, California, is the first Wolfpack player to notch five points in a contest since 2006 and was instrumental in the team’s first win at Mackay Stadium since 2016, along with its first home opening win since 2018, according to the release.

The criminal justice major was among the top 10 performers across the country the prior week and was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.

Arreaga's two-goal performance was the 33rd time that feat has been achieved in the history of the program, the release stated.
