Gov. Steve Sisolak (D-NV) recently celebrated the fact that President Joe Biden enacted a policy through the Defense Production Act to release a two-year extension on solar values.

According to NV.gov, the initiative will help diminish energy costs, enhance the electric grid and facilitate good jobs in the state.

“Solar energy is the leading renewable energy resource in Nevada and many other states, and Nevada has the largest solar economy in the nation,” Sisolak said, according to NV.gov. "I am thankful the president has taken swift action to ensure our clean energy economy, and the jobs that go along with it, can continue to thrive. I am grateful the president has heard the voices of concern from governors. In Nevada, I heard firsthand from the solar industry and workers the uncertainty this situation has created, and I’m glad to see it being resolved.”

The Nevada government reports that because of the actions of the Biden administration, they will be able to rapidly increase manufacturing of clean energy products, which involve solar panel parts. In addition, the state will be given priority treatment when it comes to domestic solar manufacturing capacity through supply deals.

“I also want to thank our federal delegates, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), for their leadership and support of solar energy jobs in Nevada and across the nation,” Sisolak said, according to NV.gov.

The initiative provides a two-year leeway to ramp up manufacturing for the solar industry in order to meet the needs of clean energy demand moving forward.
