University of Phoenix recently issued the following announcement.

Dr. Marc Booker provides course content for higher education admissions professionals

University of Phoenix is pleased to share that Marc Booker, Ph.D., vice provost of Strategy, has authored the foundational online course on transfer credit and articulation for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). The course launched in April and is available to the higher education community and members of AACRAO.

“Following the pandemic and with increasing student mobility, University of Phoenix adapted our own transfer policy to accommodate diverse transfer needs,” states John Woods, Ph.D., provost and chief academic officer. “Marc’s leadership and expertise has informed transfer process and policy at University of Phoenix and this makes him a natural fit to author this foundational content for transfer.”

AACRAO is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association of more than 11,000 higher education professionals representing approximately 2,600 institutions in more than 40 countries. Its commitment to the professional development of its members includes best practice guidance on admissions strategies to meet

institutional diversity objectives, delivery of academic programs in innovative ways to meet the needs of a changing student body, and exemplary approaches to student retention and completion.

Titled “Transfer Articulation 101,” the course Booker developed provides an overview of transfer credit and delves into a broad discussion on relevant trending issues facing institutions today. The course explores multiple topics including general guidelines and principles for transfer credit, building effective articulation partnerships, and handling credit for prior learning. Individuals completing the course are eligible for a badge demonstrating comprehension upon completion of all modules and passing the final assessment.

Booker is actively engaged in the higher education community and in 2016 served as the President for the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and is currently a faculty member for the Association’s Leadership Development Institute. Since 2009, he also has been a regular speaker, contributor and subject matter expert at national and regional conferences sharing insight on diverse topics including leadership, process improvement, change management, prior learning assessment, transfer credit, and articulation.

Booker has also contributed to several publications as a co-author for AACRAO’s Guide to Best Practices: Articulation Agreements (2019); writing a chapter on international admissions for the AACRAO International Guide (2016); and was a consultant and named contributor to the Transferability of Postsecondary Credit Following Student Transfer or Co-Enrollment (2014) study published by the National Center for Education Statistics within the U.S. Department of Education. In 2020, he received a Hall of Fame recognition from Blackboard for his contributions in providing thought leadership and innovation in education.

Booker has been with the University of Phoenix since 2001.
