President Joe Biden and the U.S. Department of Transportation recently made available $6.4 billion under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act to help states minimize carbon emissions.

Nevada will receive more than $57 million over the next five years as part of the Carbon Reduction Program, an April 22 press release from Gov. Steve Sisolak's office said.

"Nevada is home to some of the fastest warming cities in the country, and this critical funding will help us address our accelerating climate crisis and protect Nevadans and their families," Sisolak said in the release. "I am grateful for Nevada's federal delegation, who played a leading role in securing passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the tens of millions in funding to help address climate change heading our way."

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) also made a statement, per the release.

"This critical funding will help NDOT and its local partners invest in projects that will improve multimodal options across the state while reducing carbon emissions for future generations," NDOT Director Kristina Swallow said. "Our team is eager to work with Governor Sisolak and our state and local partners to leverage this funding and seek creative, collaborative, and sustainable solutions to our transportation challenges."
