Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson and Commissioner Tick Segerblom will host a Spring Job Fair with over 100 employers looking to fill vacancies that pay a minimum $18 an hour, according to a recent press release.
The event will be held April 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall, the release stated.
"The Spring Job Fair is perfectly timed for employers to staff up and prepare for what we expect to be a record-breaking travel year for Las Vegas,” said Wanda Gispert, vice president of workforce development and college programs for MGM Resorts International. “This means more career opportunities for job seekers at attractive wages and benefits. Work is available whether you are a first-time job seeker, changing fields, newly relocated to the area or retired and wish to return to work."
Those interested in attending the event are encouraged to pre-register on the Clark County Website, however walk-ins are welcome, and parking is free, according to the release.
Among the employers who will be at the event are MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment, Resorts World, The Venetian, Golden Gaming and Boyd Gaming in the hospitality industry, according to the county. Other businesses and organizations will be on hand as well including Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI), Nevada State Bank, Barclay's, Clark County School District, Giving Home Care, Robertsons Ready Mix, Blueprint Studios and Southwest Airlines.
"We are local. Everything from facilities and maintenance to technologists and radiologists are employed in-house," said Michelle Nicholl, chief human resources officer at SDMI. "It is important to SDMI to support Southern Nevada, and one of the ways we do that is by employing over 500 local team members. We are excited to participate in the upcoming Spring Job Fair and discuss the opportunities of a career at SDMI with potential candidates."
The county stressed that each job at the fair will pay a minimum hourly wage of $18 per hour, which is approximately $37,000 annually, the release stated.
