City of Las Vegas issued the following announcement on July 21.
The Las Vegas City Council unanimously ratified Director of Government and Community Affairs Randy Robison. Robison had served as the deputy director of Government and Community Affairs since he was hired by City Manager Jorge Cervantes in September 2020.
Robison is a native Southern Nevadan, born and raised in Mesquite. He has been a lobbyist and government affairs professional for more than 20 years. Previously, he was director of State Legislative and Government Affairs at CenturyLink, and prior to that, Robison was the owner of Capitol Strategies, a full-service government affairs and legislative advocacy firm. He has represented industry associations in education, local government, construction, finance and small business.
Randy holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University. He is active in the community, including serving as the chairman of the College of Southern Nevada Institutional Advisory Council; vice-chair of Nevada Volunteers - the Governor’s Commission on Service; former member of the Vegas Chambers Government Affairs Committee; as well as previous service to the Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, and the North Las Vegas Planning Commission.
As director of Government and Community Affairs, Robison leads a team that focuses on advocacy efforts to advance the city’s federal and state agenda by engaging with a variety of government, community and business partners. The city works to strengthen city, state and federal relationships and actively participates with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the National League of Cities and the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities.
