As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Silver State Times have requested detailed records under the Nevada Open Records Act § 239 et seq. The request specifically targets information about ballots mailed for absentee, early voting, overseas, military and any others that were sent out to voters for the upcoming general election.

The fields being requested include Voter ID, Registration Date, DoB/Age, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Name Suffix, Registration Status and Reason, County and Precinct details. We also asked for voter contact information such as Address, City, State, Phone number and Email Address. Additionally, Party Affiliation details were sought.

In terms of ballot-specific data points, we requested information on Absentee Status, Ballot ID and Election Date for ballots sent. Furthermore, we asked for specifics like Request Type (Absentee, Mail-In, Early Voting etc.), Ballot Request Date as well as Send and Return dates. Finally we sought details on the final status of each ballot - whether it was accepted or rejected.

We believe that access to these public records is essential in order to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public we have requested a fee waiver for this request.

We will continue our efforts to ensure transparency in the electoral process and will share updates as they become available.
