Sam Brown, a GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate in Nevada, addressed the issue of attacks on U.S. citizens by illegal migrants, describing it as "the devastating result of the border crisis." Brown made his statement to the Silver State Times on June 26.

"This is the devastating result of the border crisis created by Jacky Rosen and Joe Biden," said Sam Brown, GOP Candidate in Nevada for U.S. Senate, GOP candidate in Nevada for U.S. Senate. "People are dying on their watch. Americans need new leaders who will end the violence and save our communities immediately."

Two illegal immigrants from Venezuela were charged with the murder of a 12-year-old girl in Texas, according to Fox News. Both men had been apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol at the time of their crossing and were subsequently released into the interior of the country. Additionally, Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother, was allegedly raped and murdered by Victor Martin Hernandez on August 5, 2023. Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was arrested in June 2024 for her murder. He allegedly entered the United States after murdering a woman in El Salvador.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. Border Patrol has arrested 10,337 individuals with existing criminal convictions illegally crossing to date in FY24.

Brown emphasized his stance on border security through a post on X after the Laken Riley Act did not pass the Senate: "America’s borders MUST be secured & our laws MUST be enforced." Brown supports this legislation.

The Laken Riley Act, which has already passed in the House of Representatives, would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain illegal immigrants who are caught committing crimes, as reported by News Nation. The bill is named after Laken Riley, a nursing student who was killed on the University of Georgia's campus by Jose Ibarra, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela.
