LAS VEGAS – On May 3, 2023, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that Nevada will receive nearly $4 million to help expand access to affordable housing through the nation’s Housing Trust Fund. Nevada will be able to use these funds to increase and preserve the supply of affordable rental housing, especially for low-income households.

“Across the valley, I hear story after story from my constituents who are seeing their rents increase and struggling to keep a roof over their head,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “Clark County ranks among the top ten counties nationwide for highest concentration of renters, as well as households that spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am proud to have fought for additional investments in affordable housing support for Nevadans.”

This announcement comes as part of a $382 million allocation by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the nation's Housing Trust Fund (HTF). The HTF is an affordable housing program that supplements existing Federal, state and local efforts to increase and preserve the supply of decent, safe, and sanitary affordable housing for extremely low- and very low-income households, including families experiencing homelessness.

As a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Congresswoman Lee has been actively working to combat rising housing prices in Nevada and support affordable housing initiatives. In February, Congresswoman Lee announced a nearly $15 million investment to combat homelessness in Clark County. Last year, Congresswoman Lee voted to increase investment in the Housing Trust Fund and in other programs supporting affordable housing for seniors and persons with disabilities.
