A Las Vegas voter has agreed to plead guilty on charges of voting more than once in the 2020 presidential election.

"Donald Kirk Hartle, a Republican, had claimed that someone voted in the 2020 election by using the mail-in ballot of his wife, who died in 2017," Twitter user @VeganSueInVegas said. "He now faces two counts of voter fraud."

Hartle was cited by the Nevada Republican Party last year as evidence of voter fraud after claiming someone had cast a ballot for his wife who died in 2017, according to a report by the Nevada Independent.

“Donald Kirk Hartle pleaded guilty to voting more than once during the 2020 election,” the Nevada Independent wrote in a tweet. “Judge Carli Kierny, who accepted Hartle’s plea, called his actions a ‘cheap political stunt’ that backfired and showed ‘our voting system actually works.'”

The Associated Press reported the Las Vegas business executive agreed to plead guilty to the reduced misdemeanor charge 11 months after being accused of felony voter fraud.

The plea agreement signed by Hartle makes him responsible for paying a $2,000 fine and receiving the equivalent of one year of probation, the AP reported. The Nevada Independent stated Hartle will receive credit for time served and will not be responsible for any additional jail time. The original felony charge would have subjected Hartle to a possible prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of $5,000. 

He was scheduled to enter his plea Tuesday, Nov. 16, in state court in Las Vegas, the AP reported.
