Nevada Day, a celebration of Nevada gaining statehood on Oct. 31, 1964, was back this year in Carson City after last year's cancellation because of COVID-19.

It started with a pancake breakfast at the Governor’s Mansion Saturday, Oct. 30, and Classic Run and Walk later in the day, KLAS reported.

There was a parade with the theme, "Historic Moments in Nevada,”  which started with a flyover of military aircraft and a University of Nevada marching band.

“Carson City native Krysta Palmer, a 2020 Olympic Bronze  Medalist in Diving, was the guest of honor in a car driven by our Automotive Collections Manager, Jay Hubbard!” the National Automobile Museum tweeted.

There trick-or-treating in Carson Mall on Oct. 31 with candy and goody bags distributed to 300 children, the station reported.

Later in the day Gov. Steve Sisolak and his wife passed out candy at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City.

The Nevada Day parade started in 1938 to commemorate Nevada gaining statehood, the station said.
