City Of Elko issued the following announcement on June 15.
Mosquito Spraying
The City of Elko Parks Department is planning its annual areal application for the abatement of mosquitoes in late June, early on Thursday morning (June 24, 20201). Should weather conditions require postponement of the application (must be applied in the early morning with temperatures above 50F, and with winds less than 10 M.P.H.), we have reserved the following day (6-25-2021) as a backup date. We will be planning our secondary application on Friday July 2, 2021 and have the next day, Saturday July 3, 2021 reserved as a backup day if conditions are not correct. As the insecticides to be applied are toxic to bees, we encourage any beekeepers in the area to take necessary precautions.
Areas to be treated include the Humboldt River Corridor, Elko City Cemetery, Ruby View Golf Course, all City Parks, The Elko Regional Airport, and the Water Treatment Facility. We also encourage everyone in the area to assist with mosquito abatement efforts by emptying any stagnant water from tires, boats, buckets, etc. as these areas are the perfect breeding ground for these pests.
