Nevada Governor issued the following announcement on June 3.
Nevada Governor Sisolak was joined by workers and labor leaders across Nevada to sign four pieces of legislation in support of working families.
The following is a list of bills the Governor held signing ceremonies for today:
- Assembly Bill 257, which establishes provisions governing indoor air quality in public schools. The Governor was joined by members of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and Senator Roberta Lange for the bill signing. The legislation was sponsored by Assemblywoman Susie Martinez.
- Senate Bill 245, requires the labor commissioner decline jurisdiction of a claim for wages or other complaint if the claimant is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that provides the claimant with an exclusive remedy or other relief for a violation of its terms. The legislation will help working men and women by adding a pathway and remedy to allow employees to get paid in a fair and timely manner. The Governor was joined by members of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and Senator Lange for this bill signing.
- Senate Bill 294, revises provisions governing collective bargaining by local government employers. The Governor was joined by members of the Teamsters Union for the bill signing. The bill was sponsored by Senator Nicole Cannizzaro.
- Senate Bill 360, which makes certain changes to the appointment of members to the Board of the Public Employees' Benefits Program. The Governor was joined by members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) for the bill signing. The bill was sponsored by the Senate Committee on Government Affairs.
