The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said on May 8 that deputies assisted the Washoe County School Police at North Valleys High School after a report of multiple subjects with a weapon was received through dispatch around 2:00 p.m. on May 7.
According to the statement, deputies responded to the high school campus and searched for any potential or active threat. The response included teams of deputies, a K9 team conducting an article search for a possible weapon, and drone support providing aerial surveillance during the campus search.
After securing the scene and determining it was safe for students, staff, and the community, deputies cleared the call as an agency assist. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no arrests were made related to their involvement in this incident.
“The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office stands ready to assist our regional law enforcement partners in protecting our children, schools, and community,” said officials from the office.
The statement clarified that the Washoe County School Police is leading the investigation into this incident. Officials advised that any further information or questions should be directed to their agency.
