The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) women’s golf team finished its season on May 13 with two players placing in the top 25 at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional held at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
The results highlight individual achievements for sophomore Amber Chen, who tied for 19th in her first NCAA Regional appearance, and junior Zi Yu Foong, who tied for 24th and earned her second career top-25 finish in postseason play. Both athletes contributed to a strong showing by UNLV as a non-Power-4 program.
Freshman Demi Du tied for 42nd place, junior Jane Huang tied for 48th, and freshman Lana Yamagata finished in 61st. The Rebels also achieved a notable feat during the tournament: all five team members made par on the course’s second-longest hole—the par-5 eleventh—during the final round.
USC won the team title at one-over-par and will advance to the NCAA Championship along with Ohio State, Duke, Northwestern, and Texas Tech. UNLV finished tied for eighth overall at +41—three spots away from advancing further—and posted the best result among non-Power-4 teams competing at this regional site.
During the season, UNLV recorded five top-five performances including three in their last four events. The team’s spring campaign included repeating as Mountain West Champions. Foong was named Mountain West Golfer of the Year while both she and Chen were selected to the All-Conference First Team. Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer was recognized as Mountain West Coach of the Year for a second consecutive year and fifth time overall during her tenure.
The Rebels captured their ninth conference title this season under Bush-Herzer’s leadership.
