The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Nursing is marking its 60th anniversary this year. Established in 1965 with an initial class of 27 students enrolled in an associate degree program, the school has grown to become a prominent institution for nursing education in the United States.

Over the years, UNLV Nursing has expanded its academic offerings. The school introduced a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began offering a Master of Science in Nursing program in 1984. Its curriculum now includes various online and graduate programs designed to meet evolving healthcare needs.

The school has received national recognition for its educational programs and has developed strong partnerships with clinical organizations. Simulation-based learning has become a significant part of the training process for students at UNLV Nursing.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the school played an important role by supporting Nevada’s response efforts through frontline care, testing, and vaccination initiatives.

UNLV Nursing continues to focus on advancing nursing education, research, and community service as it celebrates six decades since its founding.
