UNLV has been awarded the 2025 Seal of Excelencia, becoming one of only 18 higher education institutions in the United States to receive this recognition for its efforts to support student success. The award is given by Excelencia in Education and acknowledges UNLV’s comprehensive strategies for keeping students engaged and progressing toward graduation.

The university is the first in Nevada to earn this distinction and joins a group of just 50 institutions nationwide that are Seal-certified. According to UNLV, Latino students make up more than 35% of its undergraduate population. The award highlights the effectiveness of UNLV’s programs designed to promote academic achievement among all students.

“This honor reflects the university’s intentional commitment to serving all students, including Latino students, who comprise more than 35% of the undergraduate population and affirms the tangible impact of UNLV’s programs and initiatives that foster success for every student,” according to a statement from UNLV.

The Seal of Excelencia is intended to identify institutions that demonstrate results in supporting Latino student success through data, practice, and leadership. Earning this certification signals an institution’s focus on evidence-based approaches that benefit a diverse student body.
