The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has launched the Consortium of Arts + Medicine, a collaboration between its School of Integrated Health Sciences and College of Fine Arts. The new initiative is described as the first circus medicine consortium in the United States.

The consortium was developed in partnership with local performers. Its main goal is to help circus artists prevent injuries and recover from those that could potentially end their careers. The program also aims to address trust issues that may exist between circus professionals and healthcare providers.

Alongside specialized care and outreach for performers, the consortium will serve as a research platform. It seeks to educate healthcare professionals about the unique physical demands and medical needs faced by circus artists.
