A recent technology-based summit in Las Vegas focused on promoting Nevada as a potential center for the tech and venture capital industries.

According to a news release from the city of Las Vegas, the Vegas Tech Summit was supported by local business owner and the founder/CEO of NexRep, Teddy Liaw. It took place in September at a number of sites.

The summit’s goal was to allow people within the region the chance to network with leaders in the tech and venture capital industries who have ties to Nevada.

“Our goal was to introduce tech leaders and venture capitalists, mostly from California, to the incredible quality of life that exists here in Las Vegas,” Liaw said in the release.

Some of the people at the summit included Lawrence Epstein, chief operating officer of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Seth Schorr, CEO of Fifth Street Gaming, who spoke at the event.

Also in attendance were Ryan Smith, director of the Las Vegas’ Economic and Urban Development Department, Nevada Treasurer Zach Conine and Justin Jones, commissioner of Clark County.

According to Liaw, who relocated to Las Vegas after he grew tired of the San Francisco area lifestyle, “Everyone is familiar with the Strip, but they may not know of communities like Summerlin with great schools, nor do they understand the impact professional sports has had on the valley’s quality of life.

“Those features, combined with Nevada’s business-friendly environment, relative housing affordability, and access to supportive local governments that facilitate business development, make Las Vegas ideal for both business and personal relocation,” he added.
