Nevada State Sen. Carrie Buck said lawmakers must show consistent support for the state’s tourism industry to protect jobs and economic stability for families.
The statement was made on X in response to comments from Rep. Dina Titus about Nevada’s hospitality sector during National Travel and Tourism Week.
“Then why did you vote against policies that support Nevada’s tourism industry? You can’t say one thing and vote the other way. Nevada workers deserve better,” Buck said on X.
Nevada’s tourism sector generated $98 billion in total economic impact in 2024, supported 436,600 jobs, and accounted for 28% of statewide employment, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The sector also contributed $24.4 billion in wages and salaries, and provided 34% of general fund revenue in the state. Nevada recorded 52.4 million visitors in 2024 who generated $58.5 billion in visitor spending, according to Travel Nevada.
Buck is a Republican member of the Nevada State Senate representing District 5. She is running for Nevada’s 1st Congressional District and previously worked as an educator and school principal, according to her campaign website.
