On Jan. 29, 2026, the State of Nevada said that Nevadans have more attainable housing under Governor Joe Lombardo due to falling rents in Las Vegas and record investments in new housing.
The announcement comes as the Nevada War Room, a project of Better Nevada PAC, posted on X that housing has become more attainable under Governor Lombardo. The post highlighted that rents in Las Vegas have fallen faster than anywhere else in the country since he took office and credited record investments in new housing and reduced construction red tape for helping Nevadans from all backgrounds find homes. According to Nevada War Room, “housing has become more attainable under Gov. Lombardo (…) rents in Las Vegas have fallen faster than anywhere else in the country since he took office and credited record investments in new housing and reduced construction red tape for helping Nevadans from all backgrounds find homes.” (Manual).
Recent data supports these claims. <a href="https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/housing/las-vegas-rents-are-dropping-faster-than-anywhere-else-in-the-country-report-says-3465803′>The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that rents in the Las Vegas Valley have dropped 13.6% since August 2022, tying with Atlanta for the largest decline among U.S. metro areas. The median asking rent is now $1,443, down 4.6% from a year ago. Over the past six years, rents rose nearly 20%, above the national average, driven by population growth, new multifamily construction, and remote workers relocating from California.
Nationally, rent trends show a slight decrease as well. <a href="https://www.apartmentlist.com/research/national-rent-data’>Apartment List reports that the national median rent fell 0.2% in January to $1,353, down 1.4% compared with a year ago. Rent growth nationally has been slightly negative for over two years, and the national median has dropped 6.2% from its 2022 peak.
