City of Sparks recently issued the following announcement.

Sparks, Nev. — The City of Sparks Art Walk, a monthly celebration in downtown Victorian Square, returns Thursday, April 21, from 5-7 p.m. This month’s event is a nod to National Poetry Month. Spoken Views Collective will host live readings at the Sparks Heritage Museum and Engine 8 Urban Winery.

Artwork along Victorian Square can be viewed with docent-led tours, made up of six sculptures and one mural, at 5 and 6 p.m. Tours begin at Lillard Park, next to the Depot Gallery.

The Sparks Art Walk collection can also be viewed at any time. Each art piece comes with a QR code that visitors can scan to learn more from the artists and artwork. The self-guided art tour includes exhibits at the Depot Gallery, the Sparks Heritage Museum and various restaurants and bars taking part in the Sierra Arts Galleries On VIC program.

An artist reception will be held inside the Depot Gallery with Mongolian Paper Artist, Turburam Sandagdorj and local artist Kirsten Mashinter.  Author Stacy Gnall, whose poem “The Present” is engraved on the new pet memorial at the Sparks Marina Park, will be signing her new poetry collection titled “Dogged.”

At the historic Glendale Schoolhouse, the Cordillera International Film Festival will be sharing a variety of award-winning short films from around the world called “Schoolhouse Shorties.”

Beginning June 16, 2022, live entertainment, crafts booths, chef demos, food, and drink booths will be added to the event. For more information, visit www.SparksArtWalk.com.
