Governor Steve Sisolak recently toured three different air quality monitoring sites while talking about the dangerous impact wildfire smoke can have on public health, as part of his Nevada Climate Series 2022.

According to an Aug. 17 press release, Sisolak is also handing out pamphlets so Nevadans can learn about how to better protect their families from breathing in wildfire smoke.

“I’m proud to work alongside so many advocates across the State of Nevada to combat climate change and mitigate the negative impacts,” Sisolak said in the release.

The governor visited the Washoe County Health District’s air monitoring station, the Reno4 National Core Multi-pollutant Monitoring Station, and the Reno Aces’ Greater Nevada Field to learn about the Purple Air, Co. monitor used there, the press release stated.

Sisolak pointed to the poor air quality stemming from the Caldor Fire in August 2021 as to why he finds it important to act immediately to make sure families are prepared for the impacts wildfires cause.

The goal of the governor’s Nevada Climate Series is to raise awareness about climate change and how to reduce its impact.
