May 16-20 has been declared “Infrastructure Week” by Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak as the state looks for ways to maximize the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The governor announced that a subcabinet has been established in order to pounce on the incoming funds dedicated to infrastructure, a news release from Sisolak’s office said on Monday.
“When I think about infrastructure, I think about jobs,” Sisolak said in the release. “Over the last several months, Nevada has received critical additional funding, and is eligible to compete for billions more. It is important for us to build on the opportunities in front of us, and to make sure we are coordinating efficiently and effectively to secure and invest these dollars wisely to help Nevadans for generations to come. From fixing our roads, to expanding access to high-speed internet, to making our State more resilient against climate change, we have a tremendous opportunity in front of us.”
Nelson Araujo will spearhead the subcabinet, and Dr. Kristen Averyt will serve as the governor’s climate advisor, the release said.
“The funding we delivered through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is already helping our state, and this subcabinet will be critical for coordinating the delivery of even more resources to Nevada,” the Nevada Democratic Congressional Delegation said in the release.
The delegation also noted that the law would help enhance public transportation, make high-speed internet available throughout the state, and help facilitate well-paying jobs as they work with the State to ensure everyone benefits from the proposed measures.
