In what has become a custom during his tenure leading the state’s highest office, Gov. Steve Sisolak (D-NV) recently donated his quarterly salary to the state’s public education system.

Sisolak has given $27,464.96 every quarter, which is over $347,000, to the state’s public education system since becoming governor in 2019, according to a news release by the Nevada government.

“Since day one, Nevada’s public schools and students have been a top priority to me – First Lady Kathy Sisolak and I have been proud to donate my entire taxpayer-funded salary to fulfill my promise to enrich the lives of students, educators and families across our state,” said Sisolak in the release. “This is just one way we’re prioritizing investments into education and academic achievement.”

Sisolak’s contributions have benefited over 300 public schools throughout the state.

The donation makes good on Sisolak’s promise to provide his entire taxpayer-funded salary to Nevada’s public schools before he was elected as governor.

“I asked the people of Nevada for the chance to lead this state for many reasons, chief among them being the opportunity to improve educational outcomes for every child in every classroom in the state,” Sisolak said at the time.
