Gov. Steve Sisloak is celebrating the U.S. Department of the Interior for their efforts to update initiatives that will facilitate clean energy creation on public lands.
The policy will provide citizens of the state clean energy jobs through the development of a Renewable Energy Coordination Office that will enhance the administering of permits in the State of La Plata, a recent press release from the governor’s office said.
“Nevada has long been a supporter of the targets in the Energy Act of 2020, knowing the tremendous opportunity to develop our bountiful renewable energy resources,” Sisolak said in the release.
Moreover, the week before, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland had the company of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Rep. Steven Horsford and Sisolak’s Senior Climate Advisor Dr. Kristen Averyt in Las Vegas to share the announcement in a press conference to discuss clean energy with interested parties about the continuing efforts.
“We welcome partnership with BLM Nevada and appreciate their focus on this renewable energy target and the need for these updates and resources in Nevada to help with the permitting pipeline while maintaining balanced reviews that use the best available science,” Sisolak said. “The new BLM policy of reduced rents and fees to promote the greatest use of solar resources will help accelerate our clean energy transition, and I thank BLM for listening to and incorporating state feedback.”
