A Salvadoran national, David Cristales-Machado, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison and three years of supervised release for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Andrew Gordan.

Court documents indicate that Cristales-Machado was discovered by immigration officials in Clark County, Nevada, following arrests and convictions for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in October 2024 and again in January 2025. He had originally been deported to El Salvador in 2014 after serving time for three felony convictions: two counts of attempted possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of attempted burglary.

Cristales-Machado pleaded guilty to one count of Deported Alien Found in the United States. After completing his prison term, he will be deported to El Salvador for a second time.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Acting Field Office Director Jason Knight. The case was investigated by ICE Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
