Marty O’Donnell, Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada, said on May 8 that Nevada’s top ranking in national job growth is linked to both state and federal leadership as the state continues its economic expansion.
“The state of Nevada led the nation in job growth last year—surpassing the second fastest-growing state by more than double. This is a testament to the leadership of Governor Lombardo and the economic recovery we’ve seen under President Trump,” O’Donnell wrote on an X post. “The more Democrats we remove from office, the better our state will do.”
According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, the state added about 34,500 jobs between February 2025 and February 2026, achieving a 2.2% growth rate that more than doubled that of the next fastest-growing state. Total employment surpassed 1.6 million for the first time on record, with gains across industries such as construction, health care, and professional services.
Nevada has ranked first in job growth nationwide for nine consecutive months, according to revised Bureau of Labor Statistics data cited by Fox5 Vegas.
O’Donnell previously placed fourth in the 2024 Republican primary before earning President Trump’s endorsement for the current run. He is known for his career as a video game composer on franchises like Halo and Destiny, according to Yahoo News.
O’Donnell is running as a Republican candidate in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, and his campaign has emphasized economic growth, border security, and reducing government overreach, as reported by NME.
