Residents are invited to view a menorah lighting ceremony hosted by Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft in the rotunda of the Clark County Government Center in downtown Las Vegas at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. Rabbi Levi Harlig of Chabad of Southern Nevada also will take part.
“As we enter the winter holiday season, I am pleased to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights in Clark County by lighting the fourth candle on the menorah,” said Commissioner Naft. “I would like to encourage anyone who cannot make it in person to tune in via social media to commemorate the miracle of Hanukkah.”
The event also will include jelly donuts and refreshments. Following the menorah lighting, The Dancing Dreidels will perform.

Hanukkah is celebrated this year from sundown Sunday, Dec. 18 through sundown Monday, Dec. 26. The eight-day festival commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after a group of Jewish warriors defeated occupying Greek armies. It celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and spirituality over materiality.
