The Nevada War Room has announced that the “No Tax on Tips” proposal is advancing towards becoming law, highlighting Governor Joe Lombardo’s support and its potential benefits for thousands of tipped workers across the state.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, this provision is part of the omnibus “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed by Congress and signed into law, fulfilling a promise made by former President Trump at a Las Vegas rally. The policy will exempt up to $25,000 in cash tips from federal income tax for three years, garnering widespread support among hospitality industry stakeholders. Governor Lombardo has actively promoted this measure, aligning Nevada with the broader federal initiative while emphasizing its significance to the local workforce.

The Review-Journal reports analysis from the White House Council of Economic Advisers indicating that the average take-home pay for tipped workers will increase by approximately $1,675 annually due to the tip tax exemption. With Nevada’s substantial hospitality sector, this translates into significant financial relief for thousands of workers throughout the state. This estimate has been referenced in discussions across state and federal legislative forums.

The Senate passed the No Tax on Tips Act by unanimous consent, extending the tax exemption to employees earning less than $160,000 and covering tip incomes up to $25,000. Sponsors included Senators Ted Cruz, Jacky Rosen, and Catherine Cortez Masto, all underscoring the measure’s benefit for service workers. The legislation also broadens payroll-tax credits to beauty and similar service occupations, with the Treasury tasked with defining eligible “tipped occupations” within 90 days.
