Nevada secured a place in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Softball Championship after defeating Colorado State 11–3 on April 19. The Wolf Pack completed a series sweep over the Rams at Ram Field in Fort Collins, with two weeks left in conference play.

The win is significant for Nevada as it guarantees their participation in the postseason tournament, providing an opportunity to compete for the conference title. This achievement comes as Nevada improves its record to 33-14 overall and 14-5 within the Mountain West Conference.

Colorado State took an early lead by scoring three runs in the first inning. However, Nevada responded strongly with dominant relief pitching and a powerful offense. In the fourth inning, Katie Wetteland hit a two-run home run to tie the game, followed by Haylee Engelbrecht’s three-run homer that gave Nevada its first lead. Madison Clark added an RBI single to finish off a six-run inning for Nevada.

The Wolf Pack extended their advantage with another five runs in the sixth inning. Lexi O’Gorman contributed a two-RBI single, while Engelbrecht, Wetteland, and Hannah Di Genova each drove in additional runs. Rylie Haith led Nevada’s offense with three hits during the game; Engelbrecht and Wetteland combined for five RBIs.

After Talia Tretton left early from pitching duties, Hailey McLean stepped up and delivered 5.2 shutout innings—allowing only two hits and striking out three batters—to earn her eighth win of the season. Tess Bumiller finished pitching duties for Nevada late in the game.

With this victory marking their second consecutive conference sweep, Nevada will next face Northern Colorado on Monday at Greeley.
