Nevada Health Centers has announced that its Mobile Medical Services will not be visiting Stagecoach this week, but will be available in Silver Springs on Thursday, February 12. The mobile unit will be stationed at the Food Pantry located at 1290 Lahontan Street from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

During this visit, diabetic eye exams will be offered to those who are due for their annual screening. According to Nevada Health Centers, “This 20 minute exam should occur annually as a way to detect signs of diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is a diabetes complication damaging the retina’s blood vessels, causing them to leak fluid or blood, swell, and grow abnormal new vessels, leading to blurred vision, floaters, or even blindness; early stages often have no symptoms, highlighting the need for annual dilated eye exams to allow for early detection and management through blood sugar/pressure control, injections, or laser therapy.”

In addition to diabetic eye screenings, medical and behavioral health appointments are available through facilitated telehealth services provided onboard by staff members. Walk-in patients are welcome; however, appointments can also be scheduled by calling 775.257.7455.
