The Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan has reached its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of providing breast cancer screenings to women across Nevada. The mobile unit has played a significant role in making these essential health services accessible to those who might otherwise face barriers due to cost or location.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. The Mammovan travels throughout Nevada with a team that includes a mammography technologist, receptionist, case workers, and driver.

A spokesperson for Nevada Health Centers stated: “Ensuring access to these screenings is a critical step in the battle against breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Traveling across the Silver State is no small feat, but we accomplish it with the dedication of our incredible team. Our crew includes a skilled mammography technologist, a welcoming front desk receptionist, diligent case workers, and a committed driver.”

Nevada Health Centers emphasized that donor support is vital for maintaining the program’s reach and impact: “None of this would be possible without the generous support of donors like you! Donate now and support women who otherwise cannot afford a mammography screening.” Additional information about supporting or accessing the program can be found at https://www.nevadahealthfoundation.org/get-involved/ and https://www.nevadahealthcenters.org/mammography/
