The Nevada Department of Transportation announced on March 25 that motorists should expect continued lane restrictions for its Pavement Preservation Project on U.S. 95 in Clark County, which aims to improve roadway conditions south of Boulder City.

The project covers approximately 17 miles of U.S. 95, stretching from about seven miles north of Nelson Road to nearly three miles south of the Interstate 11 junction, between mileposts 37.85 and 55.15. Work includes milling and resurfacing the roadway, repairing damaged pavement, updating striping and signage, upgrading drainage and lighting, and installing tortoise fencing. The department said that right lane and shoulder closures will be in effect around the clock from Thursday, March 26 through Monday, April 6 on both northbound and southbound U.S. 95 between milepost 37.5 and milepost 44 near Eldorado Valley Drive.

“Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors,” according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

The Nevada Department of Transportation promotes roadway safety through programs targeting zero fatalities and advances multimodal planning for aviation, public transit, freight, bicycle and pedestrian needs, according to the official website. The agency manages about 5,400 miles of highways and more than 1,000 bridges statewide as reported by the official website.

The department organizes operations through three districts in Las Vegas, Sparks and Elko along with major maintenance stations for statewide coverage; it covers southern, northwest and northeast Nevada through its districts according to the official website. A seven-member board of directors oversees the agency as noted by the official website.
