On Feb. 11, 2026, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced an updated schedule of overnight lane reductions on Sunset Road as part of a pavement rehabilitation project. The work will affect nearly three miles between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive.
The department said the restrictions are necessary for paving, utility adjustments, and upgrades to sidewalks, curbs, and median islands. Nightly lane reductions will occur from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13 through Friday, Feb. 27. During this period, Sunset Road (State Route 562) will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Gilespie Street and Eastern Avenue. There will also be intermittent restrictions on the northbound Airport Connector ramp to Sunset Road and on the Sunset Road on-ramp to southbound Airport Connector/Interstate 215. No work is scheduled for Saturdays.
Vehicles wider than twelve feet are advised to use alternate routes during construction hours. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution in work zones and consider detour routes when possible. The department works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but notes that schedules may change due to weather or other factors.
