Nevada secured a 6-1 victory over Northern Colorado on April 20 at Gloria Rodriguez Field in Greeley, Colorado. The Wolf Pack improved their record to 34-14 for the season and 14-5 in Mountain West play with the win.
The game saw Nevada take an early lead in the second inning when Hannah Di Genova doubled and later scored on a groundout by Matlyn Leetch. In the third inning, Haylee Engelbrecht hit a three-run home run to center field, bringing home Katie Wetteland and Anna Braukus and giving Nevada a commanding 4-0 advantage.
Northern Colorado responded with an RBI double in the bottom of the third, but Nevada extended its lead in the fifth. Madison Clark tripled to left-center to score Braukus and then came home on Wetteland’s groundout. Clark finished with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Di Genova contributed two hits including her double as part of Nevada’s eight-hit performance.
Ainsley Berlingeri pitched a complete game for Nevada, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five batters. The Wolf Pack played error-free defense and stranded six Northern Colorado runners during the contest.
Looking ahead, Nevada will face Fresno State in a three-game series at Christina M. Hixson from April 24 to April 26. The weekend will feature Alumni Day on Saturday and Senior Day on Sunday to honor seven graduating seniors.
