The Nevada Department of Transportation announced on March 26 that it will implement overnight ramp and lane closures on Interstate 11 and U.S. 95 in the eastern Las Vegas Valley as part of the I-11/Flamingo Retaining Wall and Soundwall Reconstruction Project.

According to the department, these restrictions are necessary to remove the temporary 24-hour traffic control currently in place on southbound I-11. Once work is complete on Thursday, April 2, the interstate will be restored to four general-purpose lanes.

The closures will occur nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday, March 29 through Thursday, April 2. The southbound I-11/U.S. 95 off-ramp to Flamingo Road will be closed, as well as the Boulder Highway on-ramp to southbound I-11/U.S. 95. Southbound I-11/U.S. 95 will also be reduced to two lanes between Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road during this period. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through work zones and take alternate detour routes if possible.

The Nevada Department of Transportation works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, and notes that schedules are subject to change due to weather or other factors. The department manages about 5,400 miles of highways and more than 1,000 bridges statewide, according to the official website.

Additional state highway information is available at dot.nv.gov or by calling (775) 888-7000. For updates specific to southern Nevada projects and traffic conditions, motorists can follow @NevadaDOTVegas on X or visit nvroads.com for real-time conditions before driving. The Nevada Department of Transportation organizes operations through three districts in Las Vegas, Sparks and Elko for statewide coverage; a seven-member board oversees its activities; and it aims to provide a reliable transportation system that boosts safety, quality of life and economic growth across southern, northwest and northeast Nevada according to the official website.

Further details about these closures can be found as listed on the organization’s website at https://www.dot.nv.gov/Home/Components/News/News/8656/395.
