A Mexican national, Salvador Gonzalez-Sanchez, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after being previously deported three times. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Gloria Navarro and will be followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Gonzalez-Sanchez was located by immigration officials in Nevada after having been deported from the United States in 2011, 2017, and 2023. He has four prior felony convictions: illegal alien in possession of a firearm (2010), deported alien found unlawfully in the United States (2016), assault with a firearm on person (2021), and conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act (2023).

Gonzalez-Sanchez pleaded guilty to one count of Deported Alien Found in the United States. This marks his second conviction for this offense; he was previously convicted for the same crime in 2016.

After completing his prison sentence, Gonzalez-Sanchez is set to be deported to Mexico for a fourth time.

Acting United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Jason Knight announced the sentencing.
